Jonas Stead bequeathed to his son-in-law (Jonathan Turner) the sum of one shilling, meaning either that he did not care for him or more likely that his family had already obtained their share during his lifetime. The bequeath of one shilling was often stated in order to avoid disputes over the inheritance".
