Obituary:

March 16 1926-January 24 2014

M. June Emerson (better known as Judy to her friends) 87 years old, passed on to be with the Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014 from complications with Alzheimer's disease. She was living in Canby, Oregon at the time and now resides as a full-time resident of heaven.

She was the oldest child of seven, born to George and Leona Williamson on March 16, 1926 in Inchelium, Washington. She lived much of her young life on the Colville Confederate Tribe Indian Reservation, where her father was a forest ranger for 25 years. After her family moved in to Spokane, Washington from the reservation, Judy attended Roger's High School and began working in order to buy the clothes and shoes she wanted as a fashionable young lady. She always enjoyed looking her best in every situation which continued throughout her life.

When she got out of high school in 1944, WWII was in full swing and Judy did her part in the war effort by working in the ship yards. In December of 1944 Judy met Del Emerson when he was a guest of their family as an out of town soldier at Christmas. They were married on January 10, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. They lived there until Del was honorably discharged from the Navy in June of 1946 at the end of the war. From there they settled in Spokane where they raised their three children. Kami (Hines) was born in 1946; Sheri (Polvogt), five years later in 1951; and Steve Emerson, 8 years after that in 1959. Judy and Del were married for 66 years until Del passed away in February of 2012. Judy was a wonderful mother and homemaker. When she passed on she had 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, all of whom she referred to as her little angels.

Judy graduated from college in 1974 and worked as a substitute teacher in North Clackamas School District for several years in Portland, Oregon. She and Del loved to travel and succeeded in visiting every state in the United States as well as Mexico and Canada. Judy loved to read, loved to dance, loved music and was a very talented artist. Her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile are attributes her family will always remember her for, as well as the way she readily shared love and hospitality with her friends and family.

Sometime during the 1950's both Judy and Del came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They were actively involved at Gladstone First Baptist Church in Gladstone, Oregon for many years, working as Sunday school teachers and in various other church ministries.

Judy was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

You are welcome to attend a Memorial Celebration of her life that will be held on February 22nd, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the afternoon at Gladstone First Baptist Church, 6125 Caldwell Rd, Gladstone, Oregon.
